Educational institutions organise various programmes and activities

As part of academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions organised various programmes and activities for the students and faculties.
DBCK: Don Bosco College, Kohima (DBCK) celebrated its 6th Graduation Day for the batch of 2021 on July 15 at the DBHSS premises with pro vice chancellor, NU Kohima Campus, Professor G.T Thong as the special invitee. Addressing the graduates, Professor Thong advised them to work hard and determined to achieve their goal in life, adding that one has to chase their dream to achieve it. He also urged the graduates to nurture the mother earth, by caring for the nature. Presenting a graduation report, controller of examination, Kezienuo said batch (171 students) was the first of the college to achieve 100% pass percentage.
UCTE: With the objective of sensitising and establishing the attitude of inclusion of people with special needs, a visit to Prodigals’ Home was organised by Unity College of Teacher Education (UCTE), Dimapur for the B. Ed trainees on July 15. During the visit, director of Prodigals’ Home, K.Ela, highlighted the trainees about promoting the rights and wellbeing of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in all areas. She pointed out about misconceptions people have about disabilities and that they needed to be mindful to bring about change in the behaviour and attitude towards them. Special songs were presented by the PwDs children of the Prodigals’ Home followed by interactive sessions.
SJU: St. Joseph University (SJU) Chümoukedima organised a three-day induction programme for under graduate first semester students on July 12-14. Guest speakers, officials as well as senior faculty members of the university delivered motivational speeches and oriented the students in areas like academic aspects, discipline, importance of co-curricular activities etc. during the three-day programme. On the first day, the programme was divided into two sessions and held meant for the departments of Political Science, English, Biotech, Social Work and Physics. Speaking as the special guest, economics and statistics officer, Dr. Tumbenthung Humtsoe highlighted the students on career, how to choose a career and when to change a career.
