Manipur globalised for wrong reasons: FNR

Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) said what was happening in Manipur had been globalised for the wrong reasons. In a statement, the forum said that all stakeholders– governments, organisations, religious bodies and individuals – were morally involved and everyone must bear this shame without buts and ifs. It called for urgently transcending the good and bad moralisation to naming the evil of every kind – hate to arrogance, pride to anger, lies to deception, and violation of human dignity to violence inherent in humanity.
FNR appealed to the people of Manipur in particular and the neighbouring communities and the citizens of India as a whole to go beyond interpreting the happenings in Manipur to changing the situation. From interpreting through various narratives, depending on the position of the narrators, it called for owning responsibilities to what had been created in Manipur. Noting that force of any kind could not create a just and peaceful society, the FNR said only coming together of people could create a congenial space towards the path to peace. Hence, it called upon the parties concerned in Manipur to share a common understanding of what came next at a minimum level. “In Manipur, cultural communities have never been so apart vis-à-vis the cause and effect and effect and cause since May 3, 2023,” FNR said.
According to the forum, for any peace to have a chance, cultural communities of men and women concerned must be involved in all stages of internal peace efforts.
At the same time, the forum said the entire country should support to the call of peace through advocacy and humanitarian intervention.
