DEF Longleng police in coordination with Phomla Hoichem organised a “Drugs Free but Empowered Villages” was conducted at Yongnyah village under Longleng on July 23.
According to DIPR report, SP Longleng, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, as resource person spoke about the drug menace in Longleng and strategies to control its supply and demand chain. She urged society and the police to work together in raising awareness among the younger generations about the harmful effects of drugs and intoxicants. Dr. Kaur also explained the legal proceedings and the roles of various stakeholders in combating the drug menace. She further stressed the importance of village empowerment through hard work, honesty, and education.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by VDB secretary of Yongnyah village, Bonglom while ES (PBCA), Tialemba highlighted the importance of controlling drug addicts and facilitating their rehabilitation.
President of Phomla Hoichen, Mano and Ainyu also spoke about the ways to fight drug abuse, the role of women, and the significance of their empowerment.
The seminar was attended by more than 500 villagers from Yongnyah, Yongshei, Tangha, and Yongam villages.
