Training on boar semen collection

A three-day training on “Boar Semen Collection, Processing and AI” for Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) was conducted at College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (I), Jalukie from July 19 to July 21.
A press release from CAU informed that the training was organized by the department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU, Jalukie.
At the inauguration day, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, Course coordinator of the training welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of boar semen laboratory in each district for extensive implementation of artificial insemination (AI) programme in the state.
Chairperson Dean of the college Dr. I. Shakuntala, addressed the gathering and encouraged the trainees to adopt AI technology to boost up piggery sector, while special guest, joint director (piggery), A. H. and Veterinary Services, Dr. H. Hevito Shohe, expressed gratitude to the college authority for arranging the training as requested by the director, A.H. and Veterinary Services. He informed that the department has planned to create facility to preserve boar germplasm in order to cater AI services in the state.
Altogether, seven VAS from different districts of Nagaland participated in the training programme and certificate was awarded to each participant upon successful completion of the training programme.
The other resource persons involved in the training programme were, Dr. Bhabesh Mili, Dr. Imtiwati, Dr. N.B. Devi and Dr. Iluheibe.
