Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Nagaland Branch celebrated “ORS Day” on July 29 with an objective to highlight the benefits of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS).
In a press release, IAP Nagaland state branch stated that a patient education program about childhood diarrhoea and the use of ORS solution was conducted by Dr. Sulantung at CIHSR, Dr. Apong at Nikos Hospital, Dr. Zubenthung at Faith Hospital, Dr. Chuba at Multi-speciality Hospital and Dr. Akumtoshi at Zion Hospital.
IAP Nagaland president, Dr Akumtoshi, expressed concern about the rampant abuse of antibodies in Nagaland and underscored the importance of zinc in children during diarrhoea. During the programme, parents were taught how to prepare the ORS solution and emphasized that children with diarrhoea should continue to take their normal diet. IAP Nagaland also distributed free ORS samples to patients through its members.
