Alleging looting of rice meant for ten villages under Satoi block by the stockiest and transporter, the Western Satoi Range Public Union (WSRPU) has asked the food and civil supplies (F&CS) department to send 268 quintals of relief rice to the ten villages of Satoi block under Satakha sub-division, Zunheboto district within 15 days.
In a complaint letter addressed to the advisor F&SC, WSRPU president Newto K Zhimo and general secretary Puloto T Aye stated that as per the official documents, the tide over rice (relief rice drought 2021) had already been dispatched and received by the department. It stated that transport and supplies charges were paid to transporter M/S T&P Enterprise amounting to Rs. 1082400 for entire Zunheboto district.
According to WSRPU, the ADS Zunheboto informed that the transporter had already received the rice, but was still being kept in his godown “with the reason unknown to the department officials.”
Even after fervent appeal made to the department, district administration and supplier regarding the distribution of rice under disaster relief, WSRPU said the beneficiaries of ten villages were yet to receive their due share.
The union expressed dismay that the contractor under the guise of supplying “scammed and looted” the rice meant for the poor beneficiaries of Satoi block.
WSRPU has, therefore, requested the department to send relief rice to the ten villages within 15 days. It also demanded that the department blacklist and terminate the contract of M/S T&P enterprise for “looting the poor beneficiaries.”
