Nagaland governor, La Ganesan inaugurated Amrit Yuva Kalotsava 2023-24, a cultural festival organised by Sangeet Natak Akademi to mark 75 years of India’s independence, at Rangaphar Military Station, Dimapur as chief guest on August 1.
The programme was organised by the Sangeeta Natak Akademi, National Academy of Music, Dance and drama (an autonomous body of Ministry of culture, Government of India) in collaboration with NEZCC, Dimapur, Nagaland and the Spear corps, Indian army, Dimapur.
In a press release, PRO Raj Bhavan informed that, the governor, who is also the chairman of NEZCC, in his speech said the culture of India with its deep civilizational roots was a profound example of “Living Heritage”.
He mentioned that it was like the pristine Dhansiri river originating from Laisang peak of Nagaland which nourishes the regions where it flows through, similarly, the Indian culture flows in the collective consciousness of the people defining the cultural heritage and identity.
Ganesan also spoke on India’s G-20 Presidency theme – ‘One Family, One Earth, and One Future’ which consolidated the core belief in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and acknowledged that the foundation of any country was the youth whose dreams and aspirations were to be nurtured and developed in the present times.
He pointed out that the progress in the Amrit Kaal has to be at multi-dimensional levels and for posterity as India cerebrates its 75th Independence year with a new found zeal.
The governor lauded the efforts of Dr Sandhya Purecha, chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi; Joravarsinh Jadhav, vice-chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi; and all the staff members of the Akademi for formulating and implementing the laudable vision behind Amrit Yuva Kalotsava.
As part of the festival, the Governor informed that a workshop on art critique and other multifarious aspects of the performing arts has been organized where senior experts, art critics, and scholars will interact with art enthusiasts and young artists, both in the physical and virtual modes to share the knowledge acquired through their vast experience.
He therefore called upon the participants took part in these artistic endeavours in order to redefine the cultural policies.
Lieutenant General Harjeet Singh Sahi, General Officer Commanding spear Corps was the guest of honour.
At the event, various cultural items were performed by Odissi Vision and movement Centre, Kolkata, Manab Das and Group, Tripura, Vüngi Nzanta Culltural Club, Nagaland, Kanika Ignti and Group, Assam, Yumnam Bisojit and group, Manipur, and sanskrit play by Bheem Hanuman Samvad, Akash Mallikand group, Delhi/Kolkata.
