Fire breaks out in Kohima; 2 shops gutted

A fire broke out at N Kire building in Kohima town, Razou point on Tuesday at around 12:30 pm. Two shops including a restaurant were damaged incurring a loss of around Rs. 55 lakh, officials said. There was no loss of life or injuries reported in the blaze, said officials.


According to officer incharge of Nagaland Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), Sedevizo Hibo they received information about the blaze around 12:30 pm, following which four to five fire tenders were rushed to the spot.


Hibo said as per the account of the owner of the house, the cause of the fire was due to a leakage in the LPG gas cylinder and a short circuit.
The officer said estimated property loss was Rs. 55 lakh, and due to timely intervention properties worth around Rs. 3 crores could be saved.
