Chümoukedima Ao Lanur Telongjem (CALT) celebrated Tsungremmung festival on August 2 at Chümoukedima by organising a “Kimak program, an Ao traditional practice of celebrators visiting houses of leaders, warriors and rich men, singing songs of praise and valour.”
A press release by CALT stated that with Dr. Moa Walling as the convener of Tsungremmung Kimak Committee and participation of Chümoukedima Ao Senso Telongjem leaders, Jungpang Medem Zunga leaders and members of CALT, the group visited the houses of various leaders and sung Ao cultural songs and exchanged Tsungremmung greetings.
CALT said the visiting of non-Ao residences on such occasion may be first of its kind as traditionally this was practiced only within the Ao community. It said the initiative not only helped to educate each other with different cultural practices but also re-strengthened the bond that the Aos in Chümoukedima had made with the traditional land owners; the Chümoukedima Village and Chümoukedima-A Village.
The team visited the residences of Chümoukedima Village Council chairman and Angami Public Organisation president, Razouvotuo Chatsu; Chümoukedima A Village chairman, Neikholie Shuya; Retd. Project Director, RD Department, Temjen Longchar and Commandant, NAPTC, Ben Longkumer.
