The party frontals of the Mokokchung District Congress Committee (DCC) celebrated ‘Tsungremmung Festival’ on Thursday at the DCC treasurer’s resident with NPCC president & ex-MLA, Supongmenen Jamir as the special guest.

Delivering ‘Tsungremmung’ greetings, Supongmeren Jamir stated that Mokokchung district INC is being regarded as the best “performing district” in the state. He said being the “best”, bears greater responsibility. He urged the party workers to harvest in abundance as the Tsungremmung signifies appealing God to bestow rich harvest.

Jamir said that, as the president of NPCC, his first priority was to restructure the party from the top to the grassroot level where the party can work in a positive close co-operation and for that to happen, he added that certain sacrifices have to be made by the party workers.
As a National party, Supongmeren reminded the party workers that INC is based on liberalism and secularism whereas, the BJP is based on RSS ideology.

Earlier, short speeches were delivered by ex-MLA & PCC member, Toshipokba and other PCC members, P Sento Tzudir, Bendangkokba, Moa Emchen and Imkongyanger.

The programme was chaired by DCC president, Watimongba Aier and significance of Tsungremmung was said by DCC executive member, Lanusanen while the welcome note was delivered by treasurer Iminukshi. A folk song was presented by DYC and the invocation was offered by DMCC president, Rongsenla.
