NJCF holds statewide prayer for Manipur

Heeding to the call of Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF), churches and its members across the State observed a 10-minute prayer for Manipur on Sunday evening.

The call for prayer which began at 7 p.m. saw most of the churches ringing the church bells during the prayer time, while lights were turned off as a mark of solidarity from 7 p.m. to 7.10 p.m.
Church members also took part in the mass movement at home praying for peace to be restored in the violence hit Manipur.

This comes a day after Naga mothers from various apex bodies held a solidarity prayer at PHQ junction on Saturday morning.

NJCF president Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, vice-president Rev Dr N Paphino and treasurer Rev Dr Moses Murry said that this was a symbolic act of solidarity with the brothers and sisters in Manipur and to pray that peace would return to their land. Noting that 160 lives were lost and more than 1,000 homes were set ablaze, leaving over 50,000 people displaced, while more were fleeing for safety to other parts of the country every day, NJCF said what was most disheartening was the fact that 350 churches were destroyed and still no one seemed to take responsibility.
