Education institutions across the state joined the nation in celebrating Teacher’s Day on September 5 by organizing various programmes in honour of the teachers. The day is also celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a scholar and a teacher.


LONGLENG: District Education Office (DEO) Longleng organised the Teachers’ Day programme at the DEO Conference Hall Longleng. The occasion was graced by EAC Longleng, Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P. On the occasion, district awards were presented to four teachers: Nirmal Sarkar, (Mathematics) from Bautung Govt Higher Sec. School; Ngongang Phom, Assistant Teacher at Phom Lempong Higher Sec School; C. Pangjei Keikung, from GT Govt Higher School Yachem and W. Salang Phom, Hindi Teacher at Govt Higher School Yaongyimchen.


Highlights of the celebration included prayer for teachers by Rev. Bau-uh, pastor CBC, song performance by Phammei from Yingli College and words of wisdom by Assistant Education Officer (AEO) Pongtei Phom.


CHUMOUKEDIMA: The 2nd Common Teachers’ Day celebration for Chumoukedima district was held at Chumoukedima Town Council Hall, Chumoukedima. The event was graced by the ADC Medziphema, P. James Swu. On the occasion, the guest of honor presented the State Teachers’ Award to two deserving teachers: Enzenbeni Lotha from GHS Diphupar-B and L. Hangsing Kuki from GHS Medziphema.


Highlights of the programme included invocation by chaplain PCC, Rev. Dr. Vichukho Nyekha; welcome address by SDEO (DEO I/C), Jevika Kiba; special song by GHS, Naga United Village; significance of the day by president ANAPSA, Bendang Chuba; special performance by St. Savio High School; choreography by GHS, Chumoukedima Village; ode to teachers by Nagaland Police Central School and vote of thanks delivered by SDEO, Dhansiripar, Nmyamo Jami.


MON: All Government and Private Schools of Mon Town attended the Teachers’ Day celebration held at Town Hall. DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, graced the celebration as special guest.
In his speech, DC emphasized the inseparable connection between teaching and teachers. He encouraged students to become better learners by fostering a willingness to learn, remaining ever ready to acquire knowledge, and displaying dedication towards their goals.


DC also handed the District Award 2023 to four awardees: N. Nokhu Konyak P/T from GMS Loakho; T. Chsmwang Konyak P/T from GMS Chenmoho; Shoiyan Konyak P/T from GPS ‘A’ Naginimora and Nafisa Ali, Teacher at St. Joseph’s School Mon (a private school).
N. Nokhu, on behalf of the awardees, expressed gratitude to the department for selecting them for the District Award 2023.


Earlier, the event began with an opening song by Konjong Higher Secondary School students, followed by greetings from DEO (charge) Mon, Moala Aier.
Other program included a group song by GMS Mon Town ‘D’, choreography by GMS Mon Town ‘A’, a special performance by the Police Unit School in Mon, a dance by Kids Crew from St. John’s Higher Secondary School in Mon, and a song in praise of teachers titled “Proud of You” by GHSS Mon Town. The event concluded with a prayer for teachers led by T. Moishen, Associate Pastor of Women’s Ministry at KBCM.


IFCAI University: ICFAI University Nagaland also celebrated the Teachers’ Day where vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. S. Borbora and Assistant Professor in English Dr. Longchanaro Longkumer addressed the audience emphasizing the importance of teachers in shaping the future.


President of the students’ council Vizovotuo Tachü delivered the welcome address followed by a speech by literary and cultural secretary of the Student’s Council of the university, Avipra Saprüna. The program witnessed a series of performances – duet by Molongnenla and Bendangkumla and Music.


SHAMATOR: Shamator district celebrated Teachers’ Day at EBRC Hall with Addl. SP, Shamator Limaonen as special guest. Highlighting the significance of educators, Limaonen presented the coveted district teachers’ award to GHSS, Shamator, Thsantsumong and S Hongen Thangti Chang from GMS ‘A’. Earlier, SDEO Shamator Robert N Marathon delivered the welcome note and shared his Teachers’ Day greetings.
The day was marked by special performances by the students.

Lions Club of Dimapur Blue Venda celebrated Teachers Day and felicitated 15 teachers from various schools of Dimapur and Kohima at Lions Centre. A raffle draw was also done in presence of PB Paul Adv. Gauhati High Court and Lion Lalita R Khadria MJF, PDG.
