Health camp for children with special needs in Kohima

As part of Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Potterlane, Special Outreach Camp and on account of School Health Day, a health camp was organized at Government Primary School for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), Lerie on Friday.


UPHC, medical officer, Dr. Aomeren Longkumer during the health camp shared that there were many lifestyles related diseases in the present society and asked the children to maintain healthy lifestyle in their everyday routine.


Longkumer encouraged them to be healthy and appealed them to observe certain things, most importantly to maintain personal hygiene so as to avoid coming into contact with germs that causes diseases.
He also suggested to follow healthy lifestyle from young age and instructed the students to practice daily exercise or physical activities without getting engaged in sedentary habits like watching television or mobile phones for very long time which adversely affects their daily lifestyle and habits.


Longkumer also explained that balanced diet is another component of having a healthy lifestyle which include a variety of food. He said due to poor and unhealthy lifestyle today, there are many diseases in their community. The doctor asked the students to propagate and spread awareness with their family and people around.


Around 120 people availed various health care checkup-up, immunization, anaemia screening, blood grouping, sugar and blood pressure screening among others. Medicines were also given accordingly. The medical camp was assigned by 6 staffs from UPHC including doctor, nurses, technician and pharmacist.
Earlier, introduction was given by teacher in charge, Kedivi Mekro and SMC chairperson, Meduhele Solo delivered the vote of thanks.
