Wokha JAC serves 72-hr ultimatum

Joint Action Committee (JAC) has served a 72-hour ultimatum on DC Wokha and TTC Infra India for starting remaining works on the ongoing NH-2 two-lane construction (KM 72.40 to KM 83) in Wokha district In a statement, Wokha Village Youth Organisation president and JAC convener Chibenthung P Kikon, and WVYO general secretary and JAC member secretary Echungthung Murry said the lack of seriousness on the part of authorities concerned to address the genuine concerns of the public forced them to serve the ultimatum.

They insisted that the remaining works should begin within 72 hours of publication of the ultimatum in the local dailies They also declared that the remaining works would be allowed to proceed only after rectification of discrepancies identified in all the 106 locations, besides demanding proper demarcation and designating those lands already compensated but left untouched by ongoing NH-2 two-lane construction (KM 72.40 to KM 83) as government/department properties.

They asserted that failing to meet its demand would compel them to chart their own course of action, and that the Wokha DC and TTC Infra India would be held squarely responsible for any eventualities.
