ENPO, NNPGs reaffirm political rights of people of Nagaland

Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) executive members and representatives of federating units held a joint meeting with five Naga National Political  Groups (NNPGs) on March 14 to entrench the political rights of the people of Nagaland “amid confusing arising out of gross political assumptions”.
This was stated jointly by ENPO constituents– ENPO president Khoiwang Konyak, general secretary Monlang Phom; K.U. president Manlip Konyak, YTC president Keozhi, PPC president Chingan Phom, president Sangtam Chomhose Sangtam and executive member CKS Akhum Ayaing and NNPGs- M.B. Neokpao/N. Kitovi Zhimomi (GPRN/NSCN), NSCN (R), Z. Royim/V.Nagi of NNC (Parent Body), Hozheto/Tsanthungo (NNC/NPGN) and Kiumukam/Hetoi( NNC/GDRN).
According to the signatories, since its formation ENPO has based its principle on Naga unity first and political solution second as the objective and therefore appreciated the formation of Working Group (WG) comprising of the NNPGs to “defend the inherent political right of homeland Nagas”.
Both ENPO and NNPGs expressed the belief that since the government of India had made “its position very clear on the political hurdles and challenges”, they said “it implied that there has to be an honourable and acceptable political solution for the people of Nagaland.”
The signatories therefore made an appeal to all Naga tribes, transcending artificial boundaries that if “geopolitical conditions do not integrate us physically at the present time, our unique customs, traditions, history and culture must be protected as they are inseparable.”
However, the signatories have reiterated that “our emotional integration must continue and enable future Naga generations to progress and achieve the vision of our forefathers.”
