ASSTOAN to lift ban on sand supply

Staff Reporter

The Assam Sand Supply & Truck Owners’ Association Nagaland (ASSTOAN) on Monday decided to lift the ban imposed on transportation of sand from Manja, Assam.

However, the association informed Nagaland Post that only those trucks registered with the association would be allowed to transport sand from Manja, beginning September 30. Earlier, the association imposed a month-long ban on transportation of sand from Manja to check irregularities.

Meanwhile, at a joint meeting of sand mahaldars under the banner of the Sand Mahaldars and Suppliers Association (SMSA) Manja, Bakalia Sand Mahaldars Welfare Society (BSMWS), Silveta Sand Mahaldars Welfare Association (SSMWA) and ASSTOAN on September 23, it was resolved to reduce the number of trucks transporting sand from Karbi Anglong to Dimapur only after registration with the association.
The ASSTOAN said the decision was taken in order to avoid “illegalities and difficulties”.

The meeting also agreed to re-look into the already registered trucks by both the parties (Assam and Nagaland), and the process of registration commenced from September 25.

The associations also resolved to work united in order to strengthen the business, besides deciding to meet again for further discussion on September 30. For further information, the ASSTOAN can be contacted at 9077667789 and 9615182965.
