Training on ‘freshwater aquaculture for nutritional security in Nagaland’ ends

Three-day training on “Freshwater Aquaculture for Nutritional Security in Nagaland” organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema and funded under TSP was held from March 6–8 at the conference hall of the centre.
In the inaugural session, Dr. D. J. Rajkhowa, joint director of the centre delivered a brief note on the importance of fish in our diet and stressed upon the need of adopting scientific fish farming practices for not only increasing fish yield but also improving human health.
Jyotish Barman, Scientist (Fisheries), while welcoming the trainees gave an overall view of the freshwater aquaculture scenario of the state and highlighted the necessity of training as a means for upgrading knowledge to enhance livelihood.
Dr. Vimezo Kire Angami, CEO, FFDA, Dimapur, Nagaland attended the valedictory session as guest of honour. In his speech, he requested the trainees to shift from traditional farming to scientific way of farming to enhance production and urged the people to come forward in bringing more area under fisheries by utilizing the untapped resources. 
He appreciated the initiative taken by ICAR Nagaland centre to work in convergence with the State machineries. 
After the session course completion certificate was distributed to the trainees by guest of honour and joint director.
Altogether 29 participants from Dimapur and Peren district attended the training.
