
Meeting-cum-seminar of the central executive committee (CEC) of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) which was held at Mount Tabor Retreat Centre, Kohima came to a close on February 27.
The programme began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by bishop of Kohima, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil.
Ruangmei, OSDNSDMA Kohima spoke on the theme, “Catholic youth facing the challenges today.” He exhorted the young people to establish a new culture for NCYM, a culture of love, peace, entrepreneurship, farsightedness and encouraged the youth leaders to play prophetic role in the society by raising out their voice for truth and justice.
Fr. Richard Fernandes spoke on “Youth and liturgy”, where he emphasized the need to know the Holy Eucharist for a meaningful participation in it.
At the programme, Limasungla, Noel Mego, and Benedict also shared their experiences.
Youth director, diocese of Kohima, Rev. Fr. Sojan Xavier invited the participants to be part of the Holy Father Pope Francis dream of having a million young Christians. He stated that the purpose of every faith formation effort in the Church was oriented towards, enabling people to be disciples of Jesus.
On February 26, the participants went for a pilgrimage to Puliebadze and held the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Sojan Xavier.
A question-hour session was also held where Fr. Mathew Keemattam, parish priest of St. Dominic Church, Chiephobozou, Fr. Richard Fernades, Bishop’s House, Kohima and Fr. Sojan Xavier, clarified the queries and doubts.
In the evening session, Rev. Dr. Anto CP, Richard Korn and Madeleine Trichel Ohio, Columbus, USA addressed the participants.
The different sessions were chaired by Zeneikho Benedict, representative to NERYC, K. Catherine Zumvu, treasurer, NCYM, Josephine, editor, Vibes, Regina Kithan, spokesperson, NCYM and Limasungla Jamir, representative to NERYC.
