Following an assurance by the responsible contractor to take up the abandoned road construction work, the residents of Mdipuiram and Beilikui wards, Peren town have decided to lift the indefinite road blocked they had imposed on February 27, 2017.
This was decided at a joint meeting held in the conference hall of ADC office, Peren on March 1, 2017, which was chaired by ADC Peren, S. Taniu and attended by the representatives of Mdipuiram and Beilikui, EE Urban Development, SDO, UD and contractor.
At the meeting, EE Peren told the members about the practical difficulties faced by the department. He said the work order amounting to Rs. 6 crore stands till September 2017.
EE also said that the work was a central project, which has a share of contribution of 90% from the centre and 10% from the state.
He pointed out that first instalment has been released but due to state government inability to contribute its share the second instalment has not been released.
The contractor spoke about the delay in blacktopping the said road from Police point to Police reserve. He, however, assured the representatives that he would start the work, whether the amount was sanctioned or not. He further assured to take up the work without delay within March 15, 2017.
After thorough deliberations, the meeting decided to clear the road blockade based on contractor’s assurance.
