DDLSA conducts legal literacy programme across state

Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) conducted a legal literacy programme at Grace Academy, Thahekhu village on child and educational rights. 
The programme was introduced by secretary DDLSA, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, Ajongba Imchen.
 In his address, he spoke about how the students were the most powerful citizens and it was up to them to ensure that our country was safe from corruption. He also stated that the reason why DDLSA was conducting the seminars and programs was for the public to be aware of their own rights and hence approach the appropriate authority if anyone was not doing their duty. 
Panel lawyer Visheli H. Yepthomi introduced DDLSA and its functions which were available for the public.
 Panel lawyers, Sentimenla and Zuchempeni spoke about child abuse and cyber crime. 
TATA criminal justice fellow, Nikita ended the program by speaking on how it was important for everyone to know their rights so that they could claim those. She also thanked the school authorities and their students for the enthusiasm shown.
KOHIMA: Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of DLSA Kohima, M.T. Therieh and retainer lawyer K. Theunuo and other panel lawyers organised a programme with elderly persons at Kohima Old Age Home, on February 26.
Chief Judicial Magistrate stated that the Home is very fortunate to be managed by a very dedicated proprietor Nithono, who is keeping all the inmates healthy and happy.
On February 27 DLSA Kohima led by secretary Therieh visited Observation Home at Kohima. The team listened to the activities and sharing of various issues, faced by the home. 
PEREN: Chief Judicial Magistrate and secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Peren Somet Chang along with prosecutor Italang Ramlia,  retainer lawyer Asungbe and others visited District Jail Peren and interacted with the inmates and also apprised them on the status of the case in the court.
Jail authorities were informed to ensure the various rights of prisoners and facilities to be made available to the under trial prisoners. Somet Chang also stated that she was impressed with the jail authorities’ caretaking and functioning.
The team also visited the Observation Home Peren was visited. DLSA, Peren officials informed and highlighted the caretaker on various provisions under the laws that need to be applied to homes. A legal Literacy Programme was also held with the students at Government Middle School Jalukie.
Prosecutor, Italung Ramlia and retainer lawyer, Asungbe spoke on the Right to Education, awareness on child rights issues and various Legal Provision on Child Rights.
PHEK: Chief Judicial Magistrate and secretary of DLSA Phek M.T. Therieh visited Observation Home Phek.
She interacted with the home on the various provisions/facilities that needs to be served to the inmates.
Therieh expressed her satisfaction and impression with the managing team running the Observation home.
ZUNHEBOTO: Mount Carmel Childrens Home, Sukhalu Village was paid a quarterly visit by Retainer Lawyer of Nagaland Sate Legal Services Authority, Tovi Yeptho and his team.
Interacting with the children, the Lawyer informed them of their various rights under the law. The caretakers of the home were also apprised of their functions, Roles and duties.
