All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Peren calls for ‘chakka bandh’

All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Peren unit on Saturday announced its decision to impose “chakka bandh” within Peren district in solidarity with commercial vehicle owners’ associations of Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Longleng, who have called for an indefinite “chakka bandh” on all commercial vehicles starting October 9, 2023 in protest against the state government’s failure to the disburse commercial fares incurred during 2023 NLA election.

In a press release, ANTA Peren unit president Ngauloibe John expressed concern over non-payment of dues incurred during the assembly election. ANTA Peren said that the payment had been withheld for almost eight months despite repeated appeals. Slamming government’s “indifferent attitude”, ANTA Peren unit said that it was “a clear sign of absolute disregard” for the hardships faced by the taxi drivers.
Therefore, ANTA Peren unit said that it has decided to impose “chakka bandh” within its jurisdiction if the government failed to meet demands.
Urging the government to take the matter seriously, ANTA Peren unit expressed hope that the two entities would find an amicable solution to matter at the earliest.
