DMC plea on demolition

Eighteen members (both elected and nominated) of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) have appealed to public and all concerned to extend full support and cooperation to the second phase of the DMC’s demolition drive scheduled from July 22.
Expressing sincere gratitude to the general public of Dimapur town for supporting and extending cooperation to the ongoing demolition of all unauthorized and illegal structures coming in the way of roadsides, drains and pavements, the eighteen DMC members including chairperson K Khekaho Assumi, deputy chairperson DP Angami, T Rio, Atomu, I Nungsang Jamir, Thungchanthung Lotha, Lipok Pongen, Vihuto Yeptho, Yangertoshi, G Kits, NK Gonmei, Simon Yeptho, Kuhoi Zhimo, Shilu Sangtam, K Pucho, V Nyekha, Chubathung and H Thong, in a joint appeal said encroachment on government reserved land, drains and pavements were posing as the greatest hurdle in maintenance of smooth and efficient drainage, traffic and parking etc.
The DMC said it had taken up the challenging task to dismantle all illegal structures in Dimapur with a view to ensure clean and healthy environment and for the convenience of the people as well as to give a good image to the city. “In the meantime, it has been observed that many shop owners/residents have come forward to join hands with DMC in the said novel task and started dismantling their respective unauthorized structure by themselves, which is appreciable and encouraging and is a big moral booster for the civic body,” the joint appeal stated.
