Nagaland junior team managed to beat Uttar Pradesh 4-3 in the ongoing Under 17 Subroto Cup in New Delhi on Monday. The U-17 boys representing the state managed to avenge the senior team who lost against the UP in the Santosh Trophy.
Kevisede Nakhro and Atou A Sukhalu scored two goals each for Nagaland team. Three straight wins for Nagaland team puts them ahead in the tournament with a match remaining against CBSE on Tuesday at 1: 30 pm. The Nagaland team will move on to quarter final if they win against CBSE.
Coach Kechi Kulimbe said three days of continuous match, the players are exhausted and drained on their 3rd match against Utter Pradesh but persevered and won the match. The Nagaland team had difficulties with the speed and stamina against the UP team, but managed to stop them from scoring goals.
Speaking about the next match, he said CBSE seems to be technically and tactically strong and also will be taking the advantage of Monday’s break giving them time for a good recovery. Earlier, in the first match, Nagaland beat West Bengal by 3-0. Pulovi scored two goals, while Kevisede Nakhro added a goal in the match on October 14.
While in the second match, Nagaland outclassed KVS 6-1. Pulovi scored four goals, Suzülo adding two goals for Nagaland team.
