ACAUT demands PR in Nagaland

ACAUT Nagaland has demanded imposition of President’s Rule (PR) in Nagaland followed by a CBI enquiry into all the issues of corruption that it had raised.
In a press release, media cell ACAUT Nagaland reminded the governor that PR has been imposed in other states for far less credible reasons.
According to ACAUT, there were two “justifiable reasons” to impose PR in the state — firstly, the financial breakdown, and secondly, the utter paralysis of the government machinery for the last 13 days.
Unless the Centre had two sets of guidelines for imposition of PR in a state, ACAUT said Nagaland, “a corruption enterprise”, should qualify as the perfect case of breakdown of constitutional machinery.
It reminded the Ministry of Home Affairs that Nagaland was still reeling under a financial emergency, not because of inadequate Central funding but because all the funds have been blatantly misappropriated.
Considering “multiple-thousand crores corruption enterprise”, ACAUT said it had demanded a CBI enquiry into both the fuel and rice scams. However, it said the demand was outrightly rejected by the government. Instead, it said suppressive measures were used to break up peaceful anti-corruption rallies and marches, once on October 18, 2016 and another one on December 15, 2016.
