Dimapur police has informed the owners and drivers of autorickshaws operating within Dimapur, Chumoükedima and Niuland district to apply for auto rickshaw identification display cards.
In a press release , Dy. Commissioner of Police (Crime)/PRO, Dimapur informed that the move was to ensure safety and to effectively regulate the plying of auto rickshaws. In this regard, auto rickshaw owners and drivers have been asked to report to the office of the DCP (Traffic) Dimapur, along with the necessary and updated vehicle documents, permits, driving license, aadhar card, permanent and temporary address proof of both owner and driver, three latest passport photos of drivers and one passport photo of the owner for processing and issuance of auto rickshaw identification display cards. PRO informed that in the event of detection of any fabricated or forged permanent/temporary residence certificates, the concerned village/colony authorities will be held solely responsible.
The last date of issuing the cards will be November 30, after which auto rickshaw found plying without a display card shall be impounded until its owner/driver submits the required valid documents.
PRO appealed to all auto rickshaw owners/drivers and DDADU to co-operate with the concerned authorities for the smooth implementation of the new system.
