A team of Nagaland State Human Rights Commission (NSHRC) led by chairman Justice S. Serto visited Bhandari Sub-division, Wokha to get first-hand information of the implementation of various welfare schemes.
The team members also included member R. Nzanbemo Lotha, secretary Limanenla and staffs visited various villages in Bhandari on October 17 and 18.
During the visit, the team inspected schools, health units, FPS centres and also interacted with administrative officers/ officials of the implementing agencies, Village Councils, teachers, students, general public to understand the challenges faced by stakeholders in the implementation of the schemes.
The commission will also be visiting other districts as well for comprehensive reports and recommendations to the government for effective implementation of the schemes for the benefits of the people of the state. It may be mentioned the NSHRC an independent statutory body under the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993, established to protect and promote human rights for the people of the State.
The commission is also mandated not only to protect and promote human rights but also to prevent violation of human rights. It has the power of civil court and it’s proceeding were deemed judicial proceedings.
Therefore, NSHRC appealed those aggrieved to file a written complaint both online and offline for any violation of human rights for prompt and effective redressal.
