Assistant Office Superintendent of Prison Headquarter, T. Bendangsenla, has been approved for award of the President’s Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service on occasion of Republic Day 2017.
According to the director general of prison Nagaland, this was intimated through a press note issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs New Delhi. The director general informed that T. Bendangsenla is also an awardee for the Governor’s Gold Medal on occasion of Republic Day 2017 announced by the Govt. of Nagaland. The release stated that the prison department is at the initial stage of taking up reformatory and rehabilitation measures for inmates. The Director General of Prison, Nagaland initiated wide ranging projects for the welfare of the Prisoners.
It stated that T. Bendangsenla, apart from the usual duties actively contributed to nurture the ideas regarding reforms of prisoners in Jails within Nagaland. She was instrumental in imparting trainings and being the demonstrator for short term skills inside the jails. For the welfare of the prisoners of Nagaland, she shepherded the projects by coordinating with the NGOs, Churches and Organizations. The Catholic Churches, the Pentecostal Churches, the Revival Churches and Baptist Churches of many Major Tribes within Kohima are a part of the reformatory project, stated the release.
The director general informed that T. Bendangsenla’s name was forwarded by the Director General of Prison Nagaland, Rupin Sharma IPS, to the government of Nagaland and Government of India who have duly recognized these achievements and contributions.
