Zunheboto district under-18 badminton tournament for girls kicked off at Zunheboto indoor stadium on October 23 with Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, as the special guest.
The Deputy Commissioner encouraged players to give their best and play in the true spirit of the game. He also encouraged the Zunheboto District Badminton Association officials to promote girls at state level while citing the examples of boxer Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal who sacrificed so much to succeed in their sport.
He further encouraged the participants to take priority by working hard to be at the state level and at the national level too. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Viveni H Yeptho, gender specialist District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) while Kihika. G. Sumi. General Secretary, (ZDBA) highlighted the players code of conduct of badminton. A special song was presented by Nikina K Kiba.
