With a view to create awareness among youths, the Nagaland University Teachers’ Association, Lumami {NUTA (L)} in a letter to the Vice Chancellor, NU has highlighted on non-starting of the department of Mass Communication and Information Technology in spite of repeated assurances from the University Administration to start the same.NUTA (L) president, Dr. H. John Sema and general secretary, Dr. Temjenzulu in a joint press release said that the issue of the two departments was a part of the X Five Year Plan. It regretted that no concrete action had been taken to make it functional at Lumami. It expressed shock that the University had no plan to start the two departments even from the forthcoming Academic session as there was no notification for admission in the NU prospectus 2008-2009. The NUTA (L) also said it failed to understand why the University administration could not frame syllabi for the two courses even when the University was already running Diploma Programme with full-fledged faculty.
