Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has lauded Dimapur Police Commissionerate for timely intervention in arresting one of the accused in the “forceful extortion” case that occurred at Dimapur railway station.
DAYO said that it stood with the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation in condemning the unlawful seizure and illegal extortion demand from Naga Farmers’ Group (NFG) by members of an agency that allegedly wanted to monopolise the entire transportation by railways agricultural produce, procured officially from Nagaland State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board with GST invoice.
DAYO asserted that it would not remain a mere spectator when it came to harassment of fellow Nagas by anti-social elements who were against the spirit of free enterprise. DAYO said it would join hands with any organisation to fight against the existing illegal syndicates/agencies that hampered the growth of entrepreneurship among young Naga youths.
Stating that railway stations and airports were supposed to be among the most secured public places in India, DAYO alleged that in the case of Dimapur railway station extortionists operated freely in the guise of agencies, thereby raising serious questions about the security of the place.
This particular case makes one wonder if there was something black in the lentil. DYO also requested the investigating team to arrest the remaining culprits at the earliest so that justice was served and illegal agencies were done away with from the Naga society.
