Says, kidnapping a disgrace to Naga national movement
Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) while appreciating the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for leaving no stone unturned to release Anil Choudhary, the businessman from Kohima who was kidnapped recently, said that the “kidnapping cancer” that was mostly concentrated in Dimapur, the commercial capital of Nagaland, was steadily spreading across the state, not leaving the political capital of the state.
CNCCI asserted that this was a grave indication of law enforcing agencies caught napping.
In a statement, the CNCCI directed KCCI to pursue all legal means to ensure that those businessmen involved in taking the matter to Naga political group (NPG), resulting in kidnapping of Choudhary, are given exemplary punishment as these few corrupt and unethical businessmen brought disgrace to the business community and strengthened the hands of anti-social elements.
Stating that the CNCCI would not shy away from appreciating Kohima and Dimapur police for ensuring the safe release of the victim, the trade body also demanded that the police should not shield anybody but immediately put in public domain the name of the NPG and kidnappers involved for the Naga public to judge.
CNCCI reminded the state government that incidents such as kidnapping from Kohima on the eve of Hornbill Festival would send a wrong message across the globe and taint its image in this IT age. It urged the government not to sleep over the safety of the business community and public.
Further, CNCCI stated that the business community wondered what was the need for the NPG to involve in a petty financial matter between individuals doing business, resorting to kidnapping.
Condemning the kidnapping as “a disgrace” to the Naga national movement that once stood with high moral authority and standard, the trade body demanded that the NPGs should also rein and ensure that their cadres did not take undue advantage in the name of Naga national movement for personal gains.
