Various programmes organised for students

As part of its academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions and other organisations across the state organised various programmes and activities.


NERYC/ICYMNE/NCYM: Awareness campaigns on reducing drug among children and adolescents were organised on November 17 by North Eastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) in collaboration with Indian Catholic Youth Movement North East (ICYM NE) & Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) at Livingstone Foundation International School (LFIS) Dimapur.


During the seminar, basics of drug abuse and harmful effects, preventive measures and life skills education to deal with demands and challenges of life were discussed during the session.


The resource person, psychiatric social worker, DMHP, Kohima, and joint secretary of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM), Veronica Nriame highlighted the students on the subject of drug abuse and the detrimental consequences of the usage of any illicit drugs. She stated that children and adolescents are the most vulnerable age groups to get addicted with harmful drugs.


Deliberating on the subject, Nriame said a preventive measure was the most suitable method to curb the drug use menace in Nagaland.
Nriame also discussed about the significance of Ten Core Life Skills cited by World Health Organization (WHO).


AR: A motivational lecture was organised by Assam Rifles for Mon Town students on November 17 at St. Mary ‘s High School, Mon.
The session was aimed to raise awareness about the opportunities Sainik School offers, fostering a spirit of discipline and excellence.


The initiative also highlighted the availability of free coaching classes in Mon to support aspiring students in their preparation.


SSP: The XXIX Local Board of Administration (LBA) meeting of Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland (SSPN) was held on November 16 with chief of staff, HQ 3 Corps and chairman local board of administration, Sainik School Punglwa, Maj Gen Vijay Jotwani.


The general officer was presented with guard of honor by the cadets and oriented about the school infrastructure.
He also inspected the school followed by interaction with cadets and staff.


The meeting was attended by representatives of School Edn, DC office, Engineer PWD (H), Principal JNV, Jalukie, HOD College of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie and parents’ representative of SSPN.


LFIC: Department of History, Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) organised educational trip to Kohima on November 14 as a part of departmental activity.
GMS Bayavü: Benny Prasad, the renowned gospel musician and world record holder for the fastest time to visit 245 countries, addressed students at the Government Middle School (GMS) Bayavü Kohima Class 8 farewell programme as the special guest.


During the programme, Benny urged students to dream big and have patience, emphasising that embracing Jesus Christ as the center of his life had brought about significant changes.
