Special handloom expo organized by the Nagaland Apex Weavers and Artisans Federation Ltd. (WEAFED) Dimapur and sponsored by office of the development commissioner (Handloom) ministry of textile, government of India, New Delhi was held on January 16, at Kiphire with ADC Dr. Tinojongshi Chang as chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang said that the WEAFED has been promoting handloom expo in the state with an objective to encourage artisans among local communities to sell their products and participate in fairs and exhibit skills to attract and support the handloom industry of the state.
Meanwhile, ADC Dr. Tinojongshi Chang visited the stalls along with the other guest and interacted with the cooperative societies and self help groups.
Altogether 25 participants from Kiphire, Dimapur, Phek, Mokokchung have been taking part in the expo. Officials from the Department of Cooperation and other administrators were also present during the inaugural function.
