‘Education Day-cum-10 years’ celebrated at SJC (A) Jakhama

St Joseph’s College (A) Jakhama, department of education celebrated “Education Day-cum- 10th year anniversary” on November 18 at the College Indoor Stadium with deputy director (academic), higher education, Dr. Medongoyi Rhakho as the guest speaker.


A press release by the college informed that in his address, Dr. Rhakho encouraged the students to work hard and be productive in their own way. He also asked student community to do their duties first before demanding things to be done from others.


He said the future was going to be very challenging as land and resources would not be considered as wealth. With the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Dr. Rhakho said it was going to replace millions of jobs in the next few years.


In a welcome note, SJU head of department (education), Kezienguno said the department was introduced in the college in the year 2013 with 32 students and one faculty.


In last 10 years, she said the department has produced eight batches with more than 600 graduates. She said the department also produced 20 rank holders when the college was still under Nagaland University.


The formal programme was chaired by Sangroshi of BA (3rd semester), invocation was said by CMC counsellor, Sr Aniamma Joseph and vote of thanks was delivered by Michael Patton of BA (5th semester).


Later in the informal session, students took part in various competitions such as painting, essay, photography, extempore speech, Mr and Miss Educationist, among other activities. Mr. Imkongsanen (BA I Semester) and Miss Ralu Yhobu (BA I Semester) were adjudged as “Mister and Miss Educationist 2023” respectively.
