Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) would take part in the upcoming Hornbill Festival. This was confirmed by National People’s Party president and legislator A Nyamnyei Konyak while interacting with a section of the media at the Wangala Mini Hornbill Festival here on Tuesday.
It may be noted that Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation had reaffirmed to abstain from taking part in the forthcoming Hornbill Festival as per October 14, 2022 resolution no. 6. The decision was made during the executive meeting of the ENPO held on November 3.
Responding to query about the recent meeting between ENLU and ENPO members, Nyamnyei said that a detailed discussion took place, acknowledging the ENPO’s previous stance to abstain from the Hornbill Festival.
He revealed that another meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, withholding details about the time and venue. He stated that a final decision would be made at the meeting.
When asked whether ENPO would stick to its decision to abstain from the festival, Nyamnyei expressed optimism that the organisation would reconsider, emphasising that the Hornbill Festival was a cultural exchange event, and not directly linked to the organisation’s demand for Frontier Nagaland.
