Days after the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) had reaffirmed to abstain from taking part in the forthcoming Hornbill Festival as per the October 14, 2022 resolution no. 6., the organization on Wednesday decided to “relax” their stand.
The decision was made during ENPO’s emergency Central Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday at Tsithrongse village Chümoukedima, where a nine-member Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) delegation was also present.
When contacted minister CL John who led the ENLU team, confirmed that ENPO leaders based on the request of the union agreed to relax their decision and allow cultural teams to take part in the forthcoming Hornbill Festival.
Other ENLU members who attended the meeting include– P. Bashangmongba Chang, P Longon, A Nyamnyei Konyak, Naiba Konyak, K Konngam Konyak, C. Manpon Konyak, Benei M Lamthiu and Imtichoba Chang.
The closed-door meeting which was held at Tsithrongse village went on for nearly six hours during which other issues were also deliberated. As per the programme, the key note addressed was delivered by ENPO president R Tsapikiu Sangtam while head GB of Tsithrongse Sangtam exhorted the gathering.
The meeting was chaired by ENPO vice president Z Throngse and invocation by pastor Tsithrongse Village Baptist Church. It may be mentioned that the ENPO had on October 14, 2022 decided to abstain from taking part in the Hornbill Festival (from 2022), in view of hardships faced by the participants.
