SP(I) seeks clarification from ECI

The Socialist Party (India) has sought clarification from the Election Commission of India (ECI), on or before filling of nominations for civic body polls, in respect of Ward No. 8, 9, 10, 11 (4)  of Naharibari East Dimapur.
In a press note, national vice president SP (I), Akhei Achumi asked ECI to clarify whether representatives from the abovementioned wards were to be selected or elected through voting system.
SP (I) stated Naharibari Village Council (NVC) was dissolved and was declared a Town Council. In this regard, the party questioned how NVC selected candidates against ward 8,9,10,11 in their own interest and further alleged that the NVC had warned and resolved not to allow any political party or any interested candidate to contest in the 2017municipal elections.
SP(I) termed the selection of candidates by NVC as “totally illegal and violation of free and fair election also against voting right.” Therefore, SP (I) maintained it will never accept such resolution made by NVC and has requested the ECI to verify/clarify the issue.
