Agriculture department’s Farm Machinery Shed inaugurated farm machinery shed cum workshop of SDO store Dimapur on January 6, at its office premises by director of agriculture, Helie Rupreo. At the inaugural programme, Rupreo dedicated the building to the farming community and laid out department’s vision of ‘Food for All by 2030’ where he mentioned that durable machineries would be procured by the department, double cropping would be stressed upon and importance of farm mechanisation in agriculture sector would be emphasised. Persuading the staff and mechanics to be “sincere” and “innovative” he also asserted that members of agriculture department would be sensitized on the service code of conduct while inviting for constructive ideas and criticism for development of the department. Joint director of Agriculture, L. Hanghsing emphasised on farm mechanisation. He enlightened the members that farm machinery shed cum workshop was constructed under Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM). Hangshing also updated the department that for availing farm machineries that included power tiller, pump sets etc. An individual availing the machineries on subsidised rate have to submit photo copies of Aadhar card, bank account passbook front page and current updated page. Meanwhile, deputy director Agriculture Central Store Dimapur, Olem Jamir updated the department on construction report. Jamir also submitted a proposal to the department for renovation and repairing of departmental stores.
