Altogether 208 Assam Rifles (AR) were inducted into the force in a glittering attestation parade on January 9 at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Sukhovi.. YSM, SM, VSM, director general AR, Lt general Shokin Chauhan reviewed the parade.
Addressing the recruits, Chauhan stated that AR was the oldest paramilitary force of the nation and have a diversified role which includes guarding of North Eastern borders, conducting counter insurgency operations and assisting civil administration in maintaining peace and security.
AR also undertakes various civic action and developmental projects in the NE region, he added.
Chauhan complimented brig Gurjap Singh, commandant and his team of dedicated staff for imparting value based training to the recruits and providing well trained soldiers for the force.
He implored upon that every recruit should be able to live up to the expectations of his comrades, battalion, force and the country.
Chauhan further exhorted them to keep in mind the welfare of the country and the force foremost while working with full dedication and hard work to keep the AR flag flying high.
Also, complimenting the recruits for being trained well, he reminded them to live up to the name of the force “Friends of the Hill People” and its primary role “Sentinels of the North East.
He also awarded recruit Santosh Prasad as the best recruit, recruit Saurav Kumar, recruit Pankaj Singh and recruit Devendra Singh best in physical, recruit Deepak Mehta, recruit Bipin Kumar and recruit Manoj Singh Bisht best in drill and recruit Balvinder Singh, recruit Ravikant and recruit Rohit Singh best in firing.
