One day workshop on “Schemes of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) and GI registration E –Commerce, GeM Portal, Indiahandmade, GST” for ST artisans under Research & Development Schemes for the year 2023-24 was held November 22, at Hotel Grandeur, Kohima.
The workshop was organized by the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, Handicrafts Service Centre Kohima, with chairman, Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd (NH&HDC) Ltd Prasalie Pienyu, as chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, Pienyu encouraged the participants to be more productive and be ready to export any time when the demand comes.
Senior Assistant Director (H), HSC- Kohima T. Rollee Vareishim, highlighted and explained various schemes of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) to be availed by the artisans.
Asst. Prof St. Joseph University, Chumuokedima, Dr. Akha-Khou Stephen, stressed on the topic E- commerce for handicrafts artisan’s benefit in marketing.
Technical in-charge, Patent Information Centre, Nagaland Science &Technology Council (NASTEC) Gihukali Chishi spoke on GI registration for handicrafts artisans, assistant commissioner of Taxes Poshutho, on GST for handicrafts artisan.
Director In- charge, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Kohima Region Dr. Mayonmi Shimray, shared the facilities of Artisans for admission while working at home and receiving degrees.
Handicrafts Promotion Officer, HSC-Kohima Rajib Chandra Roy, shared about the importance and necessity of Government e-Marketing (GeM) portal for Handicrafts Artisans.
Altogether 40 Artisans participated, five MUDRA loan forms were distributed to the interested Artisans and nine handicrafts artisan ID card were distributed.
