Maj Gen Atanu K Pattanaik, sena medal, chief of staff 3 Corps, inaugurated the Special National Integration Camp on January 7 at Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima, Nagaland.
600 cadets of NCC from 17 directorates from all over country including 110 cadets from the North East Region, attended the inauguration of Special National Integration Camp in the presence of Brig MS Nikam group commander, Group HQ Kohima who is also the commandant of the camp and associate NCC Officers of all states and UTs.
Maj Gen Atanu, in his inaugural speech put emphasis on being good and disciplined citizens of India since National Cadets Corps was the nursery for grooming tomorrow’s leaders. The message of national spirit and unity was also demonstrated through the cultural events organised by the cadets, he added. He accentuated that every such event keeps our nation united particular by this young generation representing mini India.
It may be mentioned that the objective of this camp was a process by which diverse youth and culture were synthesized into a unified whole in order to achieve harmony, common identity and above all national consciousness. The aspiration of this camp was to assimilate the entire youth into a common identity i.e. NCC Cadets with the motto ‘Unity and Discipline’.
NCC owes its popularity among the youth, primarily due to its Armed Forces etho.
All training would be conducted in a military environment, to help the cadets inculcate the finer qualities of the military heritage, helping in developing discipline and ability to work hard, which would give them a sense of purpose and help them overcome the trials, tribulations and complexities of their adolescent years.
Chief secretary of Nagaland and governor of Nagaland are stated to visit the camp on January 11 and 14 respectively.
