Chi and Mon Landowners Association (CMLOA) has rejected the assurance of the state government (demand would be resolve by April 30, 2017), instead reaffirmed to stick to its previous resolution to boycott the election to Mon Town Council (MTC). CMLOA said it appreciated the assurance of the government but since the issue remained unresolved for more than five decades, it was left with no option but to stick to its previous resolution. Meanwhile, CMLOA volunteers have been deployed at the entrance of the DC Office Mon since January 3 to prevent candidates from filing nominations. Legislators from Mon district- CL John, Thongwang and Pohwang have also reportedly met with the leaders of CMLOA and persuaded them to call off the boycott.
