Couples for Christ (CFC), an international Catholic lay ecclesial movement, whose call is to renew and strengthen Christian values in the life of couples, held its first ever prayer assembly at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Kohima on January 6.
Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima in his address appreciated Marcus and Vincent for pioneering the movement in the Diocese Kohima, and congratulated the leaders of this movement who came from different parts of the diocese and for committing themselves to the Lord, with an intend of renewing and strengthening of Christian family life. He urged to bring the value of the gospel in the family through fear of God. Bishop also blessed newly elected unit members of CFC.
Fr. Niesalhou Carolus, the Vicar General and the Parish priest of Cathedral parish spoke on the theme, ‘A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit, (Matthew 7:17-28). “You and I are the trees and our actions are the fruits,” he quoted. He urged the gathering to be producers of good fruits through their lives.
It may be mentioned that the aim of the movement is to help couples to grow in maturity as husband and wife, as brothers and sisters and as children of God to fulfill their primary vocation of raising up families under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and for the service of the Kingdom of God.
Earlier welcome speech was delivered by Marcus Mengukhrietuo, special songs and choreography were presented by Kelhoulezo Crystal, Dziesetuonuo Edith and sister and from SFC Rosüma and testimonies were also shared by couples.
Altogether 80 members belonging to different units, Handmaids of the lord, Servants of the Lord, and Single for Christ, from Kohima, Rüsoma, Phesama and Lazami participated in it the programme.
