Hornbill Day-5: Naga tribes present cultural diversity

Cultural extravaganza from various tribes of Nagaland presented by the department of art & culture on the theme “Cultural Connect” marked the fifth day of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 5, 2023.


According to a DIPR report, GOC 101 Area Lt. Gen., Sanjay Malik graced the programme as chief guest while Awang Jongwang Konyak was the tribal guest. State health & family welfare minister, P. Paiwang Konyak was the host. Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, was also present.


Traditional blessing was invoked by Awang Jongwang. The programme was marked by traditional dances and songs from various tribes including Yimkhiung, Kuki, Tikhir, Kachari, Pochury, Lotha, Konyak, Garo and Angami.


In the afternoon programme, Minister Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir and advisor Treasuries & Accounts and Art & Culture, Konngam were was the host and co-host respectively.


Liamtra co-founder, Vianney Ruangmei was the Honoured Guest. Achumbemo Kikon, MLA, also graced the programme. The colourful traditional display was presented by Rengma Cultural Troupe, Zeliang Cultural Troupe, Phom Cultural Troupe, Sumi Cultural Troupe, Sangtam Cultural Troupe, Chakhesang Cultural Troupe, Khiamniungan Cultural Troupe, Ao Cultural Troupe and Chang Cultural Troupe.
