Hornbill Fest: GoC-in-C graces cultural extravaganza

General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. RP Kalita, graced the morning session of the cultural extravaganza as chief guest on the seventh day of the ongoing Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama Thursday.


Advisor food & civil supplies, legal metrology & consumer protection, K. Tokugha Sukhalu was the host while advisor fisheries & aquatic resources, A. Pangjung Jamir and Naiba Konyak, MLA, as co-hosts.


Baüloi Vomshak from Phom Tribe invoked traditional blessing on the seventh day of the Hornbill Festival. Cultural troupes from Pochury, Kachari, Lotha, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Sangtam, Rengma, Phom and Sumi tribes presented their folk songs and dances at the cultural extravaganza, organised by the department of art & culture.


In the afternoon session, Forum of Regulators for Eastern & Northern Eastern States (FORENs) chairman Deshraju Radhakhrishnan graced the function as chief guest while Ministry of Tourism, Guwahati, regional director Anil Arora was the honoured guest.

Kevipodi Sophie, MLA, and Imtichoba, MLA, graced the afternoon programme as the hosts.
Cultural troupe from various tribes including Chang, Kuki, Angami, Tikhir, Ao, Khiamniungan, Garo, Konyak and Chakhesang performed their indigenous folk songs and dances.
