Naga tribes showcase cultural diversity
Naga tribes showcased tradition dances and folk songs on the concluding day of the 10-day of cultural extravaganza Hornbill Festival organised by the Department of Art & Culture under the theme “Cultural Connect” at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 10.
A DIPR report informed, that the session was attended by advisor, Urban and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio as the host, while advisor, Land Resources, G. lkuto Zhimomi and Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe MLA were the co-hosts.
The programme was marked by traditional dances and folk songs from Khiamniungan Cultural Troupe; Shikuoh Nuhe Tsuchong (Pre- War Dance), Lotha Cultural Troupe; Yingpvulo Hethei Tsokphita Khuvurita (Game), Chang Cultural Troupe; Song of praise, Rengma Cultural troupe; Aghali (Rengma Folk Dance), Tikhir Cultural Troupe; Beuru Nye Tsin (Mens Folk Dance), Garo Cultural Troupe; Wangala Dance, Angami Cultural Troupe; Howe (Folk Song with Action), Kuki Cultural Troupe; Salu Lap Lam, Phom Cultural Troupe; Bangjenpu (Attacking Enemy’s Morung).
The afternoon cultural session of the last day of the Hornbill Festival 2023 was graced by minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Law and Justice, GAD, Government of Assam, Ranjeet Kumar Dass as chief guest, while advisor, New & Renewable Energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe as the host and A. Nyamnyei Konyak and Y. Mankhao Konyak, MLAs as the co-hosts respectively.
The colourful traditional display was presented by Konyak Cultural Troupe, Ao Cultural Troupe, Kachari Cultural Troupe, Zeliang Cultural Troupe, Pochury Cultural Troupe, Chakhesang Cultural Troupe, Yimkhiung Cultural Troupe, Sumi Cultural Troupe and Sangtam Cultural Troupe.
Atse Quinker wins Hornbill Vlog competition

DIMAPUR: Atse Quinker emerged as the winner of the Hornbill Vlog competition, which was organised by Department of Information and Public Relations to promote festival on social media platforms.
A DIPR report informed that result of the competition was declared at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 10 and additional director, IPR, Kevizayieno gave away the prizes to the winners. Atse Quinker emerged as the winner while Chumlano Ngullie and Soshila won the second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded certificates and cash of Rs. 10,000 to the winner and Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 5,000 to the second position and third positions respectively.
Joint director, IPR, Asangla Imsong, who spoke at the programme informed that vlogs can be particularly relevant as they offer a personal and dynamic way for individuals to share experiences and perspectives. With the rise of platforms like youtube and social media, vlogs now serve as a powerful medium for content creators to connect with the audiences globally, providing diverse content on a wide range of topics, she said.
With concise storytelling, engaging visuals and entertaining elements, it’s easier for the audience to stay interested, she stated.
The Vlog Competition was organised under the theme, “Feathers of Hornbill Festival”, over the 10-day period where participants shared their short videos shot during the Hornbill Festival 2023.
