A symposium on “Integrating empathy education into mainstream curriculum: Its sociological impact’’ was organised by Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health in collaboration with Project Empathy on December 13. During the programme, founder of Project Empathy, Vibha Lakhera briefed the gathering on “Say no to Discrimination” project launched by Reachout Foundation in the year 2016 with the primary objective to foster the “acceptance of diversity” as a strength.
Lakhera said the project aimed to address and combat stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination that often manifested in day-to-day lives. Assam Rifles Public School Kohima, principal, Mhozienuo Kenguruse mentioned that after implementing Project Empathy, it was observed that the students opened up and expressed their feelings, a crucial aspect for their mental well-being and overall development.
