Four persons were killed and three others (including a minor boy) were injured when the Maruti Gypsy in which they were travelling, had a head-on collision with an oncoming Mahindra Thar(AS01F J4114) at Silonijan, Karbi Anglong Monday.
Commissioner of Police (CP), Dimapur Kevithuto Sophie confirmed the head-on collision between the two vehicles.
The deceased were identified as Neangmai Konyak, Nyamshan, Nzalya (all females) and Langpong Konyak. The injured, including the minor boy, were rushed to CIHSR and Olive Hospital Dimapur. Family members of the deceased informed that two died on the spot, while two others succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital.
Assam police disclosed that there were two occupants in the Thar and quoting an eyewitness, alleged that the driver of the Mahindra Thar was driving at a high speed at the time of the incident.
