Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), in collaboration with diverse community organisations, including Marwari, Bengali, Muslim, Bhutia, Bhojpuri, Bihari, Punjabi, etc, has successfully installed around 90 conventional streetlights along NL Road and in the flyover area.
DMC administrator Manpai Phom told Nagaland Post that the streetlights were sponsored by various traders and the communities.
He also disclosed that the council was planning to extend the initiative by installing around 100 more streetlights along Circular Road, Khermahal, and Super Market stretch, which had been scheduled after the festive season.
It may be recalled that the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) in June this year, in partnership with the Power department, replaced the halogen street lamps with more energy efficient LED lights along the stretch from Clock Tower section (Tajen Ao road) to DC Court junction.
