Lakhuti Students Union (Lk.S.U) and Merapani Students Union (MSU) celebrated their respective jubilees on December 29.
The two-day 75th Platinum Jubilee celebration of Lk.S.U observed under the theme “Together into the future” culminated with Transport Commissioner, Motor Vehicles Department, Elias T. Lotha gracing the function as special guest at Lakhuti Village Ground, Wokha. The celebration began with a dedication of monolith by Rev. Fr. Peter Pithungo, Parish Priest, St. Paul’s Church, Pungro, with the monolith was unveiled by Elias T. Lotha.
On the occasion, Elias encouraged the students to manage their time judiciously and cautioned against its misuse. He urged them to the true bearers of knowledge and advocated them to absorb the right information and cultivate a robust reading habit.
He also reminded the students that extracting the right knowledge was essential to fulfill their role as carriers of wisdom.
Lotha Students Union president Lirhonthung E Kithan expressed gratitude to all Lakhutians for their relentless effort and steadfast support towards the Lk.S.U.
At the 2nd session of the programme, special guest Director, Department of Land Resources, Albert Ngullie highlighted the significance of technology, describing the world as a global village shaped by digital advancements. He highlighted the pros and cons of digital accessibility, emphasizing the growing importance of digital literacy globally.
Acknowledging the inevitability of technological change, he encouraged responsible usage, evolution, and staying informed about advancements like artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Earlier, the first session was hosted by Mhao Kikon and Mhayani M. Humtsoe, greetings were extended by LSU president Lironthung E. Kithan and Lakhuti Village Council, chairman Mhonthung Yanthan. Vote of thanks was delivered by P. Chuphathung Ngully and benediction by leader, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lakhuti Chonzamo Yanthan. In the second session, the programme was chaired by Wonchibeni Kikon and Nzanti Ennie. Welcome address by Russel Humtsoe and vote of thanks by Penthungo Y Yanthan.

MSU: Merapani Students’ Union (MSU) celebrated its golden jubilee on December 27, under the theme “Forging a New Destiny”.
A press release by MSU informed that the event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Achumbemo Kikon MLA as chief guest, and Retd. director, Land Resource, Renben Jami, as guest of honor. Achumbemo Kikon unveiled a monolith, donated by Nyamo Odyuo and family, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the union.
The theme speaker, Associate Pastor, Bhandari Town Baptist Church, Zujanthung Yanthan, in his message encapsulated the essence of the theme, resonating with the jubilee celebrators. The release also informed that jubilee media and publicity convener, Lijamo Odyuo, highlighted the pivotal role of MSU in development of student community of Merapani and also emphasized on the contributions of the union in promoting peace and harmony.
The event also witnessed president, Lotha Students’ Union and president, Lotha Lower Range Students’ Union, who delivered encouraging speeches and extended congratulations to the union on their milestone achievement.
RTCSU 25th anniversary: The 25th anniversary celebration of the Razeba Town Chakhesang Students Union (RTCSU) was held at Razeba Local Ground in Phek district on December 19.
Advisor of Civil Administrative Works Department (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo graced the celebration as special guest. In his speech, Khamo lauded RTCSU for reaching the milestone and encouraged the members to set goals for the next 25 years.
He also lauded the hardworking and honest culture of the people from the Razeba area and encouraged the younger generation to maintain those values. Khamo said such virtues were invaluable and cannot be acquired through monetary means, unlike other commodities.
Noting the rapid global advancements and intense competition in various sectors, Khamo urged the young individuals to adequately prepare themselves and enhance their competencies. He also emphasized the importance of students taking their chosen professions seriously. On various initiatives to reform education sector, such as school rationalization, teacher redeployment, and efforts to eliminate the proxy culture, Khamo called upon the student organizations to actively engage and support positive changes in their schools for the future generations.

Earlier, Khamo unveiled the commemorative monolith, and also released the souvenir.
A message of solidarity was delivered by Medovi Rhi, president of the Naga Students Federation (NSF). Greetings were also presented by Avezo Kevin Kapu, president of the Chakhesang Students Union (CSU), and Mosonyi Krocha, vice-chairman of the Razeba Adhoc Town Council.
Earlier, the welcome address was given by Boni Bunyi Zholia, Convenor of the Jubilee Committee. Vingaulu Movi delivered the presidential address, Rakokhrulu Krocha presented the general secretary’s report, and Vitoulu Domeh, convenor of the Finance Committee, tendered the vote of thanks. Special songs were performed by Rhasoulu Movi, and Razeba Women Society presented a folk song.
